This and That

Last evening I watched the reports on Houston, seeing the devastation. My BFF from high school lives there with his wife. So far, they aren't within the path of the flooding. Yet, with the amount of rain they are expecting over the next couple of days, and the opening of gates to relieve pressure on two different earthen dam reservoirs (considered to be two of the most "in danger" in the country), flooding could still creep its way to them.

I've had readers ask what kind of dancing I did that we would have to shave everything.

Blogger buddy Patrick posted the following picture on his Men I've..., which gives you an idea of the costumes we men wore (some, even more skimpy that this).
Then, French Patrick made me laugh when he sent along this gif with "Veganism is ruining porn."
Friends and laughter and life's little pleasures are the key to a lock which may remain hidden from us.

All we can do in the face of adversity is keep smiling and laughing.

I am truly saddened by what happens to the Texas in general and to your friend in particular. It is obvious that individually the Texans are responsible for nothing.
Now, Texas demands a financial support, and what could be more normal?

But it is not compulsory to be amnesic, and all the World knows and has not forgotten that Texas refused its financial support to New York after the hurricane Sandy which, on October 29th, 2012, struck and caused grave floods on the northeast coast of the United States, in particular in New York and New Jersey. The human toll was more than 120 deaths and the damages were estimated at about 71 billion dollars, making of this murderous storm one of the most expensive of the country.

There should be maybe a federal law governing a compulsory mutual solidarity inter-states.

Love, hugs and bisous, my darlings Jean and Pat.

Great selection again! Bet you looked great in your teeny-weeny costume! Trust you are keeping reasonably well at present. Our weather is still fairly cold. No signs of spring as yet. Thanks for your comments!

The Gulf of Mexico has gotten slowly warmer and in the last 25 years Houston has 6, 100-year floods. So flooding has become the norm there these days. We had tropical storm off the coast of the mid-atlantic states today with flash flooding with about 5" of rain. Hard to imagine 50" that Houston got so far! Hugs Pat and bisous to French Patrick.

@MFP - Well, there is a Federal process: Federal Emergency Management Administration. Yet, some states (like TX) refuse to contribute to what they see as "over-bloated government." Now, of course, they want help. They aren't the only state to behave this way - we have the Tea Party to thank for this.

It's also worth noting that (most) people in crisis seem to lose sight of skin color, as well. Now, if we could only lose that permanently....

@ Jean - Yet, they continue to be "climate change" deniers. Amazing, isn't it? And, as French Patrick notes, they now ask for funding when they refused to contribute to the victims of Hurricane Sandy. It's amazing how the mind changes when one is in need.

According to the Weather Channel, there is another storm brewing in the Atlantic which will head up the Eastern seaboard. May it NOT become devastating! Hugs and bisous!
