Porn Bone

Just as I began the series on prostatectomy, a Faithful reader (responsible for many great post suggestions!) posed a question about attitudes on porn: Why we surf, what we get out of it, and women's take on porn. His message contained a link to a web page (from 2009) which cited studies from 2007. He claims, "Guys surf porn to “check out” or to “distract themselves” from certain uncomfortable feelings they are experiencing, period. Said another way, surfing porn is a symptom of some underlying discomfort a man is experiencing. It’s this simple." I find this to be certain bullshit (or as my Faithful Reader said, psycho-babble new-speak) and most of his entry to be terribly outdated.

Why do men surf porn? The answer is very simple: Males are visually stimulated. The words, images, and videos get our juices flowing and our cocks rising.

To what end? That's a pretty easy answer as well: To either, 1. Jack off, or 2. Get us aroused for a sexual encounter we're planning, or hoping, for later.

Is it bad for us? One word might suffice, but then I'd be remiss. For the majority of men: No. It's not bad for us. In fact, it's good for us. Particularly after we've been in a relationship for a long while. The Male brain is wired for variety because Nature intended us to spread our seed as far and wide as possible to proliferate our specific genetic code. Societal mores, and modern society in particular, has suppressed this intellectually, but cannot get rid of the urge. Our constant horny condition, with wandering eyes, drooling and hard dicks are proof of that.

But, as in anything in our lives, it's possible to overdo it; to become addicted to it. If you are in a relationship and your only sexual outlet is surfing porn while stroking your cock to that explosion of hot, creamy jizz (and having to clean the sticky keys afterward!) - even though you have a willing and able partner beginning to wonder what's wrong - then it's not such a good thing. Teach yourself to use porn as a tool - a means to an end - to get your pecker rock hard, pulsating and drooling for a main attraction with your partner.

What is the attitude of women on the subject? What a timely question! Not so long ago, the simple answer would have been: They dislike porn, find it degrading, and become jealous of our penchant to view it. However, the 2013 Adult Entertainment Expo opened in Las Vegas yesterday and, according to reports filtering out of the convention, that attitude has changed - a lot.

"Women comprise a bigger share of the adult audience," says Wicked Pictures owner, Steve Orenstein. To serve that growing population the company created several new series of educational, softer, more female and couples oriented products. Read: Porn with story lines; because women are more intellectually and emotionally stimulated while men continue to be aroused by the visual images. Combine the two and you've hit paydirt!

Bottom line, porn has been around since man invented photography, it's here to stay, and it has its place. Indulge in it for your own betterment. Use it to enhance the enjoyment you derive from your dick. Go ahead, start here:

Maybe I'm too "female" cuz I love porn with a decent story line. And that's a rarity in gay porn! I continue to be amazed at the number of male pornos out there in which there is no kissing, almost no moaning, and no combination of sweet- and dirty-talking.
